Background »»

         Lymphatic filariasis, mainly caused by Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi, is still a major public health problem in the tropics and subtropics, including Thailand. It has been declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) to be eliminated by the year 2020, besides; the program to eradicate the lymphatic filariasis has been launched in Thailand since 2001. The integrated knowledge from the basic research to application for public health would be essential for the elimination program. In addition, the health education would be distributed to public health in order to control and finally eliminate the disease.

Objectives »»

  1. To develop potentiality of the Research Unit to be the Academic Center of Excellence.

  2. To generate new potential researchers and gain new knowledge of lymphatic filariasis from the basic research to the clinical applications.

  3. To support the lymphatic filariasis basic research applied to the clinical research to the community and the national public health tasks.

  4. To produce academic research and establish a research unit of lymphatic filariasis to be applied locally and globally.

Goals »»

  1. To present and publish our research work nationally and internationally.

  2. To develop new potential researchers in both Master and Doctorate levels.

  3. To establish collaborative research network between Chulalongkorn University and other institutes.
